History
Joseph DeVita Inc. began in 1952 by M. Joseph DeVita as a sole proprietorship in Paterson, New Jersey. The company was incorporated in 1973 by his son Joseph A. DeVita who currently serves as President.
Through out the half century of building experience, everything from hospitals to sidewalks have been built and repaired. At the completion of Preakness Hospital in Wayne, NJ in 1989, we looked forward to constructing the Passaic County Parking Garage in 1991. Then with several projects in between we commenced construction 1999 of The $10 Million assisted living facility at The Christian Health Care Center Long View Building located in Wyckoff, NJ, which was completed in 2000. As the new millennium has begun, Joseph DeVita Inc. looks toward the future. With completion of the $5 Million foundation and structural steel phase I project of the William Paterson Student Center, the completion of the new $6.8 Million Hardyston Municipal Building in 2005, completion of the $16.9 Million new West Hall Communications Arts Building at Bergen Community College in 2007, and the $7.2 Million classroom addition to the Bergen County Technical School in Hackensack in 2008, the company is expanding and growing daily. Joseph DeVita Inc. has also completed the $7 Million rehabilitation of 9 dorms at Ramapo College. With sons Joseph and Anthony actively involved in the corporation serving as Vice Presidents, surely the best is yet to come. The corporation is expanding on a daily basis, increasing client base, capital, experience and bonding capacity. Joseph DeVita Inc. believes in controlled growth, by still keeping a hands on approach to ensure an ultimate product. Being large enough to complete major projects, but small enough to maintain the direct contact between owner and clients is extremely important
Personally, Joseph A. DeVita has served on the Board of Tustees for both the Bricklayers and Cement Masons Union and also the International Laborers Union. Today he is still a trustee of the Bricklayers and Allied Crafts Union, Local 4, of New Jersey.
